This pattern has a lot of personal significance for me, because it captures the Native American culture I fell in love with when living in the United States. As I stitched, I remembered our family road trips to the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Yosemite, etc. I remembered learning about the Navajo culture, and feeling in utter awe at their creations, whether it was jewellery, weaving, or music.
Also, I made this pattern at a time when I was very sick and spent my days in bed, wondering what was wrong, and feeling like my life was changing for the worse. It was shortly after finishing this that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and that allowed me to gain some perspective and make better, informed decisions. So of all the things I have stitched, this piece is definitely the one ladden with the most meaning.
